About Elizabeth Moon and Her Dog Training Mission

Meet Elizabeth Moon, Your Positive Dog Trainer

Helping Dogs and Their People Understand Each Other

Hi, I’m Elizabeth, the owner and trainer behind Fetch the Moon Dog Training.

I believe successful training begins with communication. My goal is to help you better understand your dog while teaching practical skills that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.

My experience includes teaching group dog-training classes and private lessons with puppies, adult dogs, and families working toward a variety of training goals. I also volunteer as a dog handler and foster with the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, where I have gained additional experience with canine body language, low-stress handling, and dogs from different backgrounds.

I am continuing my professional education through the Victoria Stilwell Academy, with a focus on modern, evidence-based, positive-reinforcement training methods. I want every client to leave our sessions feeling supported, informed, and confident about what to practice next.

Why Fetch the Moon?

The name Fetch the Moon represents working toward meaningful goals, even when they may initially feel out of reach. Every dog learns differently, and progress does not need to be perfect to be worth celebrating.

My own dogs have shown me how powerful the bond between a dog and their person can be. I share my home with my husband, Travis, and our dogs, Willow and Rue. Fetch the Moon was also inspired by our beloved Golden Retriever, Winnie, whose life continues to influence the patience, compassion, and love I bring to my work.

My goal is to help you celebrate the small victories, communicate more clearly, and build a relationship with your dog rooted in trust and understanding.

Kindness

Training should protect your dog’s physical and emotional well-being. I use gentle, reward-based methods without fear, intimidation, or physical punishment.

Trust

A strong relationship is built when dogs feel safe, supported, and able to learn without fear of making mistakes.

Communication

I help owners recognize canine body language and communicate expectations in ways their dogs can understand.

Realistic Plans

Training plans should fit your dog, your household, and your daily routine—not require perfection from either of you.

Core Values Guiding Fetch the Moon Dog Training

Our values center on kindness, trust, clear communication, and realistic training for every family dog.

Let’s Work Toward Your Training Goals

Tell me about your dog, the challenges you are experiencing, and what you would like to accomplish. I’ll help you determine whether private training is the right next step.
